Indian Wedding Jewelry

Indian wedding jewelry has an ancient history which has started very long back. The concept of jewelry has started when man felt to enhance his beauty and outlook of him towards the world. Jewelry is assumed as an status symbol among the women in Indian country.Indian jewelry has a great workmanship and craftsmanship which has brought out many variations in jewelry. Jewels made with different article right from gold to paper and also by using nature born precious stones and semi precious stones, the different forms of jewels make an authentic appeal to the makeover of the bride and groom, not only them but other socialized people, god, ceremonial elephants and horses. Our raja's and maharaja's where very fond of different jewels.

Jewels play a great part in the occasion of marriage, we have different type of jewels right from hair to toe, few jewel forms are below:

Earrings:

Earrings are believed to protect us from evil in India. It has an good acupuncture benefit, This ornament gives good bright look to the bride.


Ring:

The ring especially wedding ring is worn on the third finger, which is beleived that the vein in the finger runs straight to the heart.


Anklet:

Anklet or payal is a ornament worn around the ankles which produces a mild pleasant sound that announces the arrival of the bride.


Bangles and bajuband/vangi:

Bangles is a traditional ornament worn by women especially married women, initially it was glass bangles worn in common then we have started to wear in different metals. Different types of bangles are worn in different area's of India. Bajuband or Vangi is on same like bangle but worn little upper part of the hand, it was mostly worn by kings and queens.


Hip Chain:

Hip chain called as kamarband is worn around the hip just like belt in gold or silver or other metals.


Necklace:

Necklace or chain are ornaments wore around the neck, this gives a grand look to the bride. There are different types of necklace short, medium and long. Other than this different types of chains are also worn.


Toe Rings:

Toe ring is an ornament worn by married women in India.



Maang Tikka:

This is a beautiful hair accessory worn in the center of the equally parted hair, the pendant in the ornament touches the forehead where it is believed ajna chakra is there which means to know or perceive.


Nose Ring:

Though it has become an old custom of wearing nose ring by piercing the nose, on the occasion of wedding still brides wear clip like nose rings.
